ORYn
Fire, smoke and spice on Monkey Forest Road, from the team behind The Blue Door.
A fire kitchen in central Ubud
ORYn opened in June 2026 on Jl. Monkey Forest in central Ubud and seats up to 75. It comes from Tom and Bina Philip, the team behind The Blue Door, and is built on three words: smoke, spice and spirits.
Head chef Danial Fitri Yap has worked in Michelin-starred kitchens in Singapore and was previously head chef at CÉ LA VI, on top of Marina Bay Sands. The kitchen’s idea of ‘raw refinement’ uses fire as the main tool, and the menu is built for sharing: kingfish ceviche with green chilli and coconut vinaigrette, marbled steaks including a tomahawk, charred cabbage, tiger prawns, black cod and house-made pulled noodles.
The bar leans on gin, rum and agave, with ingredients such as torch ginger, falernum and coffee wood. Because the restaurant is new, the menu is likely to keep evolving.
