KAUM Bali
Regional Indonesian cooking at Desa Potato Head, built on recipes gathered across the archipelago.
Indonesian heritage, shared
KAUM is the signature Indonesian restaurant at Desa Potato Head in Seminyak, and it is conceived as a place where the country’s culinary heritage is shared through food. Its recipes are gathered from communities across the archipelago, and the interior references different regions, with a balcony that looks over Seminyak beach.
The menu is organised into starters, small plates, grilled dishes, large plates, vegetables, rice, sambal and desserts. Examples include gado-gado KAUM, sate banjar, ayam bakar and beef rendang, and two set menus follow a route through Bali or through East Indonesia. The bar works with Indonesian ingredients too, including jamu-based drinks and cocktails aged for 21 days in Balinese kendi clay pots.
Chef Wayan Kresna Yasa is credited with the restaurant by The Honeycombers. It opens daily from noon to 10 pm, and the late-afternoon sundown session on the balcony is a good time to arrive. Dishes change, so check the current menu.
