Capella Ubud, Bali

Keliki, north of Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

Bill Bensley's tented camp in the rainforest north of Ubud: 22 tents and a lodge set among the trees above a river valley.

Why we recommend it

Capella Ubud replaces the hotel building with a camp. Its tents are raised on platforms among trees that were left standing, linked by paths and bridges, and each is furnished around a character from an imagined 19th-century expedition.

With a long saltwater pool looking down the valley, a campfire in the evening and walks through the rice terraces and temples of Keliki, it is one of the most original places to stay in Asia.

Location

The camp is in the village of Keliki, about twenty minutes by car north of the centre of Ubud, among rice fields and forest.
