Hotel
The Middle House
Nanjing West Road, Jing'an, Shanghai, China
Swire's Shanghai House: 111 large studios by Piero Lissoni on Nanjing West Road.
Why we recommend it
The most relaxed of Shanghai's leading hotels. Rooms are large, service is informal and attentive, and the location in Jing'an sits between the former Concession and the Bund. It suits travellers who prefer a contemporary, residential style to a grand lobby.
Location
At HKRI Taikoo Hui on Nanjing West Road, Jing'an, directly above a metro interchange. The Bund and the former French Concession are each 10 to 15 minutes by car.
