Why we recommend it
The camp exists to protect the forest. Its revenue funds a ranger station run with Wildlife Alliance, and guests can accompany rangers on anti-poaching patrols. Few hotels give a traveller so direct a view of what a stay pays for, in one of the largest remaining rainforests of mainland Southeast Asia.
It is also among the most complete works of its designer. Our guide to Bill Bensley's hotels in Asia sets it in context, and Rosewood Phnom Penh is the natural stop before or after.
Location
The camp lies in a river valley in south-west Cambodia, where the Kirirom, Cardamom and Bokor national parks meet, about one and a half to three hours by road from Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville (sources differ). Guests arrive by zip line over the forest canopy.
