Bill Bensley Opens the Third Shinta Mani in Siem Reap, With Ten Villas
Shinta Mani Angkor, Bensley Collection, the third Shinta Mani, has ten one-bedroom villas with private plunge pools, designed and owned by Bill Bensley.
In June 2018 the third Shinta Mani property, Shinta Mani Angkor, Bensley Collection, was reported open in Siem Reap, a two-hour flight from Singapore. It stands at the junction of Oum Khun Street and has ten identical one-bedroom villas, each with a private plunge pool.
The designer is Bill Bensley, who also owns the property and plans to live there when he is in the city. The villas carry architectural references to Angkor Wat, among them gate-style entrances. Each has a personal butler, in-villa dining with a larger menu than the buffet at the group’s Kroya restaurant, and a sheltered second-floor patio cooled by mist. The bedroom has a toilet, with a separate bathroom reached through a garden, and the pantry is outside the villa.
It is a small, personal counterpart to the larger hotels of the town. Bensley’s other project in the country is Shinta Mani Wild, in the Cardamom forest, and his work across Asia follows the same method of invented stories.
