Cantonese, with a Hakka accent

Zijin Mansion is the Cantonese restaurant on the third floor of the Waldorf Astoria Beijing, and it has held a Michelin star for six consecutive years. Executive Chinese chef James Wang Chunzeng, from Guangdong, previously led the Chinese kitchen at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul to its first Michelin star in 2016, then returned to Beijing that December to lead Zijin Mansion.

His cooking adds the Hakka influences of his hometown, Meizhou, to a philosophy of eating in season. Signature dishes include a steamed golden fish dumpling shaped like a goldfish, barbecued Ibérico pork char siu in honey sauce, Hakka-style stuffed green pepper, and handmade ‘silver needle’ rice noodles with pork and garlic stems.

The room has hand-embroidered art, orange-red accents, and golden canary paintings that depict the four seasons. There are four private rooms for 10 to 24 guests. Menus change with the season.
