Hong Kong Cantonese on Wangfujing
Forum is the first Beijing branch of a Hong Kong flagship known for deluxe Cantonese food. It is on the second floor of the Empark Prime Hotel on Wangfujing Street, and holds one Michelin star, described by the guide as high quality cooking. The kitchen is led by a chef surnamed Lee with more than 30 years’ experience.
The dishes the inspectors single out are lavish and rooted in Cantonese luxury: sautéed lobster with crab meat and pigeon egg, braised abalone, and a signature fried rice with strong wok hei. Braised abalone is the dish most closely tied to the Hong Kong house’s reputation.
Reservations are not made through the guide site, so book with the restaurant. Menus change, so confirm what is being served.
