IHG Signs Regent Chengdu for 2029 Opening
Newhope Real Estate's tower near Chunxi Road will house a 180-key Regent, the brand's next step in western China after Chongqing.
IHG Hotels & Resorts announced on 15 July 2026 that it had signed an agreement with Newhope Real Estate to open Regent Chengdu, a 180-room hotel scheduled for the third quarter of 2029. It will be the Regent brand’s first address in the Sichuan capital.
The hotel will take levels 39 to 48 of a 233-metre tower in Jinjiang District, close to Chunxi Road and Tianfu Square, the commercial heart of Chengdu. According to IHG, guest rooms and suites will look out over the skyline and the Jinjiang River.
Plans include signature restaurants and a dedicated spa. The property will follow the service codes IHG has built into the relaunched Regent brand, including the Experience Agent model and the “With Compliments” personal touches, alongside the brand’s “Personal Havens” design idea of quieter, more intimate spaces throughout the hotel.
The agreement was presented by Daniel Aylmer, IHG’s chief executive for Greater China, and Jiang Mengjun, chairman and president of Newhope Real Estate. It adds to a Regent network in Greater China that IHG lists as Regent Shanghai Pudong, opened in 2020, Regent Chongqing, opened in 2021, and Regent Shanghai on the Bund, opened in 2024, together with Regent Hong Kong, Regent Beijing and Regent Taipei.
Regent Chongqing, the nearest sister property, has 202 rooms in the Jiangbeizui financial district overlooking the Jialing River, with three restaurants and two bars. The full announcement is available from IHG.
