Xin Rong Ji became the first restaurant in Chengdu to hold three Michelin stars when the MICHELIN Guide Chengdu 2027 selection was revealed on 3 September 2026. The selection lists 84 restaurants in total.

The Chengdu branch of Xin Rong Ji serves the seafood-led cuisine of Taizhou, on the Zhejiang coast. Inspectors noted that over three years in Sichuan the kitchen has absorbed local know-how and sourced quality regional ingredients while keeping to Taizhou tradition, with seasonal dishes such as live Dalian seafood and Hulunbuir lamb, served in a spacious dining room facing the city’s Twin Towers.

Yu Zhi Lan keeps its two stars for Sichuan cooking, and its chef, Lan Guijun, received the Mentor Chef Award for more than four decades devoted to the cuisine. Thirteen restaurants hold one star, including two new entries: Focus by Bill Yue, with innovative cuisine, and Zinan, with Sichuan cooking.

Among the eleven retained one-star restaurants are Fu Rong Huang, Silver Pot, Xu’s Cuisine, The Hall and Mi Xun Teahouse, which also keeps its MICHELIN Green Star. Mi Xun’s Karen Li took the Service Award, Sam Liu of Focus by Bill Yue the Sommelier Award, and Yin Sicong of Yongle Restaurant the Young Chef Award.

The rest of the list comprises 32 Bib Gourmand addresses, seven of them new, and 37 MICHELIN Selected restaurants. Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the guide, described Chengdu as undergoing “a gentle yet profound transformation”, with restaurants investing more deeply in local culture, ingredient sourcing and brand-building. The full selection is published on the MICHELIN Guide website.
