Rosewood Hong Kong Named Best Hotel in the World for 2025

Rosewood Hong Kong was named the best hotel in the world at The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025 awards, held on 30 October 2025 at Old Billingsgate in London. It had been No.3 the year before. The ranking, launched in 2023 by the organisation behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, is compiled from the votes of several hundred hoteliers, travel journalists and frequent travellers.

The hotel opened in March 2019 at Victoria Dockside, on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, as the flagship of the group led by Sonia Cheng. It has 413 rooms and suites in a tower by Kohn Pedersen Fox, with interiors by Tony Chi that draw on the houses and collections of the Cheng family, a large number of restaurants and bars, and Asaya, a wellness centre on two floors. Its position gives most rooms a view across the harbour to Hong Kong Island.

The result was a strong one for Asia. Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River was No.2 and Capella Bangkok No.3, both hotels that opened on the river in 2020. Raffles Singapore was No.5, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok No.7 and The Upper House in Hong Kong No.10, so that six of the first ten were Asian. Twenty Asian hotels appeared in the list of 50. Tokyo had four, and Hong Kong and Bangkok three each.

The other places in the top ten went to Passalacqua on Lake Como, the winner of the first edition, at No.4; Atlantis The Royal in Dubai; Chablé Yucatán in Mexico; and Four Seasons Hotel Firenze. Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro was the highest new entry at No.11, and Royal Mansour in Marrakech the highest climber. Soneva Fushi in the Maldives received the Art of Hospitality Award.

The position at the top proved durable. A year later, Rosewood Hong Kong led the list again, with Capella Bangkok in second place.
