Capella Bangkok has been ranked No.2 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026, announced on 15 September 2026 at a ceremony at Les Salles du Carrousel in Paris, the first time the awards were held in the French capital. Rosewood Hong Kong kept the top position.

The result continues a run for the riverside hotel: it was named The World’s Best Hotel in 2024 and placed third in 2025. The 101-room property on the Chao Phraya opened in October 2020 and includes the city’s only riverfront villas, verandah suites with 17 private jacuzzi plunge pools, the Auriga Wellness centre and Côte by Mauro Colagreco, which holds two Michelin stars.

“We’re deeply honoured to be recognised once again among The 50 Best Hotels in the world,” said Antonio Saponara, general manager of Capella Bangkok, crediting the hotel’s team.

Bangkok placed three hotels in the top ten. Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, Capella’s neighbour on the same stretch of riverbank, came third, and Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok ranked tenth. Aman Nai Lert Bangkok entered at No.48. No hotels in Phuket, Koh Samui or Chiang Mai appeared in the ranking.

Elsewhere in Asia, Mandarin Oriental Qianmen in Beijing was seventh and The Upper House in Hong Kong eighth, followed by Aman Tokyo at No.11. “Bringing The 50 Best Hotels to Paris for the first time has been a privilege,” said Faye Huggett, director of community for The 50 Best Hotels. The full ranking is published on the organisers’ website.
