Hokkien Cuisine
Fujian cooking by a Fujian-born team on the third floor of the Chinese Financial Center, one star.
Fujian classics, kept authentic
Hokkien Cuisine is on the third floor of the North Tower of the Chinese Financial Center in Wuhou, and holds one Michelin star in the latest Chengdu guide. The inspectors describe an elegant room with full-length windows, airy and bright, with booths and private rooms, and note that the Fujian-born kitchen team keeps each dish authentic.
Two dishes stand out in their notes: lychee meatballs, deep-fried pork with chopped water chestnut for crunch, which they call a must-try, and crispy tofu skin rolls, a Quanzhou speciality with a five-spice pork filling noted for scallion aroma and texture.
Fujian cooking is rare in a city known for Sichuan, which is part of the interest. Menus change.
