Why we recommend it
Hangzhou’s best-known hotels are resorts in the hills and gardens around West Lake. This one is the opposite: a tower hotel in the commercial centre, with the Grand Canal at the door. It suits a short or business stay, or travellers who want the city’s shops and restaurants within walking distance rather than a retreat. OKYTO reported on its arrival in Four Seasons Opens Second Hangzhou Hotel at Hangzhou Centre.
The design team is strong for a city hotel, with AB Concept and Kokai Studio on the restaurants and rooftop bar, and the kitchen has been quick to earn recognition: Song received its second consecutive Michelin star in April 2026. Those who want gardens and low pavilions should look at the group’s other address, Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, or at Amanfayun.
Rooms & Suites
The rooms are high in the tower and are sold by outlook. Deluxe City-View Rooms face the city and West Lake; Premier Canal-View Rooms look down on the Grand Canal; corner Panorama Rooms take in a 270-degree sweep. Among the 26 suites, the Hangzhou Suite has both lake and canal views, while the Premier and Panoramic Executive Suites combine the 270-degree corner position with separate living and sleeping areas. An executive lounge occupies part of the 28th floor.
Avalon Collective’s interiors are a modern reading of classic Chinese motifs.
Dining
Song, on the eighth floor, is the Chinese restaurant, devoted to Ningbo cuisine and the seafood of the East China Sea under Chef Zeng (as of 2026). It holds one Michelin star, retained for a second year in April 2026; the context is in our report on Michelin merging Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang into one guide.
Charm, on the tenth floor, is the all-day restaurant, with seafood hotpot and prime beef on its menu, and The Lounge on the same level serves afternoon tea, lighter Western dishes and drinks. A rooftop bar on the 30th floor pours cocktails, whisky and wine. For the city beyond the hotel, see OKYTO’s gastronomic guide to Hangzhou.
Design
The hotel sits within a 30-storey tower by Goettsch Partners and the Hangzhou practice GAD, above the retail podium of Hangzhou Centre. Its spaces are distributed vertically: arrival at street level, Song on the eighth floor, the lobby, lounge and all-day restaurant on the tenth, wellness on the 18th, guest floors above and the bar at the top. Avalon Collective handled the hotel interiors, with AB Concept and Kokai Studio responsible for the restaurants and bar. There is also a Sky Garden and ballroom space for events.
Wellness & Spa
The 18th floor is the wellness level. The spa has six treatment rooms, two of them for couples; its signature ritual takes the canal as its theme. Beside it are a heated indoor pool of 25 by 8 metres and a 24-hour gym, all with views over the canal and towards West Lake.
Location
The hotel is at Wulin Square in central Hangzhou, directly above the Hangzhou Centre mall, with three further shopping centres within five minutes’ walk and the Zhejiang Science and Technology Museum equally close. The Grand Canal flows past the front, and the concierge arranges evening cruises on its Hangzhou section; the waterway’s history is told in OKYTO’s guide to the Grand Canal, seen from Hangzhou and Suzhou.
West Lake is about 15 minutes away by car, and Hangzhou East railway station about 25.
