It is the company’s second address in the city, after the resort-style Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, and occupies the Hangzhou Centre tower beside Wulin Square, a few steps from the Grand Canal and with views towards West Lake.
The hotel has 188 guest rooms and 26 suites on floors 19 to 29. Avalon Collective designed the rooms, which Four Seasons describes as a modern interpretation of classic Chinese design motifs, while AB Concepts handled the restaurants and Kokai Studio the rooftop bar.
Song serves Chinese cuisine under executive chef Neal Zeng, and Charm offers international and Cantonese dishes with executive chef Jerome Deconinck. The Lounge focuses on pastries and tea, led by executive pastry chef Billy Xu. Stars, the rooftop bar on the 30th floor, was scheduled to follow in the autumn with head bartender William Zhu.
The Spa and Wellness Centre occupies the 18th floor, with a 25 x 7 metre indoor pool and a 24-hour gym. The hotel also has 2,900 square metres of event space, including a Sky Garden for up to 200 guests.
“With the Grand Canal just steps away, we are connected to centuries of Chinese history,” said general manager Arthur Ho. Rainer Stampfer, President, Global Operations, added: “With each new Four Seasons hotel, we push the possibilities even further as we develop unique concepts that reflect both location and local culture.” See also our Hangzhou guide.
