Why we recommend it
This is Clinique La Prairie’s first Health Resort outside Switzerland, and it brings a clinic-led stay to mainland China at a deliberately small scale: seven villas on 1.3 hectares, beside a lake and facing wooded mountains, a setting the company has likened to its home in Montreux. OKYTO does not assess the programmes themselves; travellers should take the clinic’s own advice on what suits them. It is a stay to plan as a week in one place, not as a stop on a tour, and it suits travellers who want a structured, medically framed programme more than a spa hotel. Rooms & Suites
There are 29 rooms and suites, divided among seven villas grouped around the central building. The arrangement keeps the resort closer in feel to a private estate than to a hotel: guests walk from their villa to consultations, treatments and meals in the core building, and the small number of rooms means a small number of guests in residence in any given week.
Wellness & Spa
The core building houses the four departments that correspond to the clinic’s four pillars of longevity: medical, wellness, movement and nutrition. It also contains master class lounges and the restaurant, since nutrition is treated as part of the programme, not as a separate matter.
The resort delivers Clinique La Prairie’s week-long longevity and detox programmes with its own team of specialists. According to Spa Business, the programmes are customised with the help of DNA testing and include the clinic’s own extract and supplements. At opening, the Revitalisation programme on which the clinic made its name remained exclusive to Montreux.
Location
The resort is in Anji County, in the hills of northern Zhejiang, about 180 kilometres west of Shanghai and north-west of Hangzhou. It stands beside a lake facing wooded mountains, in a district whose slopes are planted with Anji white tea. Most guests arrive by road from either city.
