The Singapore EDITION Opens Off Orchard Road

Ian Schrager's brand arrives in Southeast Asia on Cuscaden Road with a Safdie-designed building, 204 rooms and Josh Niland's first restaurant outside Australia.

The Singapore EDITION began welcoming guests on 9 November 2023 with a preview opening at 38 Cuscaden Road, at the western end of Orchard Road. It is the first Southeast Asian hotel for EDITION, the brand created by Ian Schrager in partnership with Marriott International.

The building was designed by Safdie Architects, led by Moshe Safdie, with DP Architects, while the interiors are by Cap Atelier working with Schrager. It holds 204 rooms across six floors, a 600-square-metre pillarless event gallery that divides into three spaces, and an 81-square-metre boardroom.

The main restaurant is FYSH at EDITION, a seafood-focused steakhouse from Australian chef Josh Niland and his first restaurant outside Australia. It seats 80 in the main dining room, 22 in a conservatory and 44 under an outdoor pergola, with a focus on sustainably sourced fish.

Drinks are spread across three venues: a Lobby Bar with pink velvet and a marble pool table; the brand’s signature Punch Room, here built around punches spiced with Southeast Asian ingredients; and The Roof, a semi-alfresco rooftop bar. The rooftop also holds a 43-metre pool with an acrylic oculus looking down into the garden courtyard.

On the second floor, the spa has seven treatment rooms, his-and-hers thermal pools, a sauna, steam room and gym. “It was a thrill for us to do a hotel in Singapore and to come up with a project as sophisticated and beautiful as the city itself,” Schrager said in the opening announcement.
