It is the eighth property in the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts collection, with views towards the Imperial Palace gardens and, on clear days, Mount Fuji.
The hotel was designed by the Milan architecture studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. There are 98 rooms and suites furnished with Italian brands including Maxalto, Flexform and B&B Italia. The Bulgari Suite covers 400 square metres and can be connected to an adjacent junior suite.
Dining pairs two chefs with three Michelin stars. Il Ristorante – Niko Romito seats 80 and serves the Italian chef’s contemporary menu, while Sushi Hōseki, an eight-seat counter of a single piece of hinoki overlooking a private rock garden, is led by Kenji Gyoten. Bulgari Dolci sells chocolates and Italian pastries.
On the 45th floor, the Bulgari Bar has a handmade mosaic counter and indoor and outdoor terraces planted with citrus trees including yuzu and lemon. The 1,000-square-metre spa has nine treatment rooms, a spa suite and a 25-metre indoor pool, with Augustinus Bader treatments on the menu.
The opening was attended by Bulgari chief executive Jean-Christophe Babin and Tokyo governor Yuriko Koike, with guests including Anne Hathaway and Ken Watanabe. The hotel also has two 180-square-metre ballrooms for weddings. Read more on Bulgari’s site and in our Tokyo guide.
