The Langham, Jakarta Opens in SCBD

Langham Hospitality Group's first Southeast Asian hotel brings Tom Aikens, T'ang Court and Morimoto to a 65-storey tower in Jakarta's business district.

The Langham, Jakarta opened on 9 September 2021 in District 8 of the Sudirman Central Business District, the first Southeast Asian hotel for Langham Hospitality Group. The group, a subsidiary of Hong Kong’s Great Eagle Holdings, positioned it as a new ultra-luxury address for Jakarta.

The hotel occupies a 65-storey tower and has 223 rooms and suites. The Presidential Suite covers 336 square metres, with Italian marble bathrooms, butler service and its own gym. The Langham Club lounge on the 59th floor includes a writer’s corner and a reading library.

Dining is built around three names. Tom’s by Tom Aikens, on the 62nd floor, is the British chef’s first restaurant in Southeast Asia. Aikens trained under Pierre Koffmann and Joël Robuchon and earned two Michelin stars at 26. The kitchen is run day to day by executive sous chef Giles Langford.

Tom’s serves British and French-influenced European cooking, with gueridon carving and a burrata trolley at the table. The room features Sicis mosaic floors, Knoll chairs, Himalayan salt ageing lockers, a wood-fired grill and a wood-clad bar with a large whisky list. A rooftop garden was planned to supply herbs.

The hotel also has a T’ang Court, modelled on the three-Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant at The Langham, Hong Kong, and a Morimoto restaurant from Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto.
