Park Hyatt Jakarta Opens at the Top of a Tower in Menteng
Indonesia's first Park Hyatt opened in mid-2022 with 220 rooms on the top 17 floors of a 37-storey tower, with interiors by Conran and Partners and a Japanese restaurant on the roof.

It is the first Park Hyatt in Indonesia. The hotel has 220 rooms on the top 17 floors of Park Tower, a 37-storey building developed by the Indonesian group MNC, a short distance from the National Monument.
Design
The interiors are by Conran and Partners of London. The designers took the Indonesian rainforest and the crafts of the archipelago as their starting point and worked with dark timber, lava stone from Java, copper and woven textiles. Handwoven ikat, carved wooden panels and ceremonial shields from several islands are used as artworks, and the hotel commissioned pieces from the Indonesian artist John Martono, who paints on silk. Installations of hand-blown glass hang in the lobby and the stairwells.
Rooms begin at 57 square metres, which makes them among the largest standard rooms in the city, with windows from floor to ceiling and marble bathtubs placed to take in the view. On a clear morning the volcanoes south of the city can be seen from the higher floors.
Restaurants
The Dining Room, on the 22nd floor with the lobby, serves Indonesian and Italian food from open kitchens. The Conservatory, beside it, is a lounge for tea and light meals. KITA, a Japanese restaurant and bar, occupies the top two floors, with a robata grill, private tatami rooms and an open-air roof terrace with music in the evening. It quickly became one of the fashionable addresses of the capital.
The spa, a 25-metre indoor pool and the gym are on the 34th and 35th floors. A duplex ballroom and meeting rooms take up the lower levels.
Where it fits
Jakarta is a city that foreign travellers have tended to pass through. Its hotels serve business visitors and a local society that uses them for weddings, lunches and weekend stays, which is why their restaurants and ballrooms are so large. The past decade has brought a new generation of them: Raffles Jakarta in 2015, The Langham in 2021 and the Park Hyatt, with a St. Regis after it.
The Park Hyatt has the most central location of these. Menteng was laid out in the 1910s as a garden suburb and keeps its trees and low houses, and the old town, the National Museum and the antique market of Jalan Surabaya are all within fifteen minutes when traffic allows.
