Rosewood Hotel Group announced on 10 May 2021 that it will open Rosewood Hangzhou, a 140-key hotel in Hangzhou‘s Wangjiang New City district. The release gave 2025 as the opening year; Rosewood has since titled its own update “Rosewood Hangzhou to Open in 2026”.
The hotel will occupy a standalone 16-storey building of 25,000 square metres designed by Büro Ole Scheeren, with interiors by the Shanghai-based studio Neri&Hu. It sits within the 740,000-square-metre Wangjiang New City development, which also includes a K11 Art Mall, offices, luxury residences and cultural attractions.
Of the 140 rooms, 17 are suites, and suite guests will have access to a Manor Club lounge. Plans include an all-day bistro, a Chinese restaurant and a speciality bar, plus a hybrid concept combining a flower shop, lounge and patisserie. Facilities cover a fitness centre, an indoor pool with hydrotherapy areas and 1,100 square metres of event space, including an 800-square-metre ballroom. The project targets LEED and WELL certification.
“We are thrilled to further our presence in China and bring a new level of luxury hospitality to one of its most alluring cities,” said Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group.
