Jean-Michel Gathy shaped the interiors of the 299-key riverside hotel, which opens with a Cantonese restaurant, an Italian dining room and BKK Social Club.

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River is now open, marking the brand’s return to the Thai capital. The hotel occupies 200 metres of riverfront in Bangkok’s Creative District, with 299 rooms and suites set in a cluster of tiered buildings, and 366 Four Seasons Private Residences scheduled to follow in 2021.

Hamiltons International is the architect, and Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston led the interior design. AvroKo designed the food and beverage venues, except the Cantonese restaurant Yu Ting Yuan, which is also by Gathy. An ART Space run with MOCA Bangkok shows contemporary Thai artists, and the 450-square-metre Presidential Suite has two-storey river views and a private plunge pool.

Executive chef Andrea Accordi arrived from Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. Yu Ting Yuan is led by head chef Qiu Xiaogui, Riva del Fiume Ristorante serves Italian cooking under Enrico Maritan, and Brasserie Palmier takes a French-tropical line with Nicolas Raynal. Beverage director Philip Bischoff runs BKK Social Club, a cocktail bar with spirits and cigars, while pastry chef Bruce Trouyet oversees Café Madeleine.

The urban wellness centre covers more than 2,500 square metres over two floors, with eight treatment rooms, a spa suite with its own bath and indoor garden, a 30-metre lap pool and a mind-and-body studio. Event spaces total more than 3,800 square metres, including an 800-square-metre ballroom.

“The much-anticipated return of Four Seasons to Thailand’s capital is nothing short of spectacular,” said Christian Clerc, president of global operations at Four Seasons. General manager Lubosh Barta leads the opening team. More on the city is in our Bangkok guide.
