8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana
Umberto Bombana's Italian restaurant in Hong Kong, three Michelin stars in the 2026 guide.
8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana is the Italian restaurant of chef Umberto Bombana in Hong Kong. Bombana previously worked at Toscana at The Ritz-Carlton, and opened Otto e Mezzo as a personal passion project; the name honours Fellini’s film 8½. The restaurant earned two Michelin stars within eleven months of opening in 2010, and three the following year. It keeps its three stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau.
The food
The restaurant serves à la carte lunch and dinner and seasonal degustation menus, with an extensive Italian wine list. A standalone bar belongs to the house, and it was named in Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2019 and 2020.
Why it matters
It is the only Italian restaurant in Hong Kong’s three-star group and a reference for Italian fine dining in Asia. OKYTO recommends it for a long, white-tablecloth dinner built around Italian produce and wine.
