Fairmont Hanoi Opens Beside the Old Quarter

Accor's Fairmont brand arrived in Vietnam in February 2026 with a 241-room hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter and a restaurant by chef Luke Nguyen.

Fairmont Hanoi opened to guests in early February 2026, the first hotel in Vietnam for Accor’s Fairmont brand. It stands on the edge of the Old Quarter, the district of narrow trading streets north of Hoan Kiem Lake, and has 241 rooms, including 12 suites and 38 rooms on Fairmont Gold, the brand’s club floor with its own lounge and reception.

The building was designed by Perkins Eastman, with interiors by Aston Design that take the garden as their theme, in natural tones with planting inside and out. It is a large hotel for this part of the city, with a ballroom for events and a spa and wellness area of about 3,500 square metres.

There are eight restaurants and bars. The most notable is a modern Vietnamese restaurant by Luke Nguyen, the Australian-Vietnamese chef and television presenter who has done much to explain the country’s cooking abroad. Hiryu has counters for sushi and teppanyaki, and there is a pool with a terrace bar on the roof, looking over the tiled rooftops of the old city.

Hanoi’s best hotels have been few and long established. The Sofitel Legend Metropole, also operated by Accor, has received guests since 1901, and the InterContinental stands over the water of West Lake. The arrival of Capella Hanoi in 2021 showed that there was a market for something new at the top, and in 2025 it was one of two hotels in Vietnam to receive three Michelin Keys.

More are on the way. Four Seasons is building a hotel beside Hoan Kiem Lake, and other international groups have projects in the capital. The Michelin guide, which arrived in 2023, has brought attention to the city’s restaurants, and the opening of Fairmont adds a large, contemporary hotel within walking distance of most of what visitors come to see. Our Hanoi guide covers the rest.
