Aman Nai Lert Bangkok Opens in a Century-Old Garden
Aman's third city hotel opened on 2 April 2025 with 52 suites in a Jean-Michel Gathy tower built around a hundred-year-old sompong tree.
Aman Nai Lert Bangkok opened on 2 April 2025 in Nai Lert Park, a private garden of old trees in the Lumpini district, between the embassies of Wireless Road and the shops of Ploenchit. It is the 36th Aman and the group’s third hotel in a city, after Tokyo and New York, with 52 suites and a number of branded residences above them.
The setting explains the project. The park belongs to the descendants of Nai Lert, an entrepreneur who shaped early 20th-century Bangkok, and it still contains his teak house, now a museum. The new tower was designed by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, a long-time Aman collaborator, and is built around a sompong tree about a hundred years old, which rises through the heart of the arrival spaces. Details from the heritage house are picked up in the interiors, along with pieces made by Thai craftspeople.
The suites start at 94 square metres, large for the city, and the top category, the Aman Suite, runs to 713 square metres with three bedrooms. The ninth floor is the hotel’s social level, with the Italian restaurant Arva, the lounge bar 1872 and an infinity pool on an east-facing terrace above the treetops. Higher up, the 19th floor holds a lounge and cigar bar reserved for members of the Aman Club.
Wellness takes two floors and 1,500 square metres. Beside the treatment rooms and a Thai massage space, there is a banya-style spa house and a medical wellness clinic run with Hertitude Clinic, with eight private rooms. It is the clearest sign yet of the direction the group has taken in its city hotels, where health services and club membership matter as much as bedrooms.
Bangkok was not short of new luxury hotels. Capella and Four Seasons opened on the river in 2020, and Rosewood stands a few hundred metres away on Ploenchit. Aman’s contribution is different in kind: a small hotel in a garden, in the middle of the city. Our Bangkok guide sets it in context.
