A small Hang Dieu Street shop known for crispy bánh xèo, a Bib Gourmand.
Crispy bánh xèo, wrapped at the table
Mr Bảy Miền Tây is a small shop at 79 Hàng Điếu Street, and for over a decade, according to the Michelin inspectors, it has been known for crispy bánh xèo with various fillings. English-speaking servers explain to first-timers how to wrap the pancake in rice paper with vegetables and herbs and dip it in fish sauce.
The menu also covers hot pot, spring rolls, rice noodles and barbecues. It is in the lowest price tier of the guide, listed as a place to eat like a local, and does not take credit cards. It holds a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 guide, and the listing here is Southern Vietnamese.
Open late every day, it suits an easy dinner in the Old Quarter.
