Miến Lươn Đông Thịnh
Crispy eel with glass noodles on Hàng Điếu Street, a family business of over 40 years.
Eel noodles from Nghệ An
Miến lươn is a dish from Nghệ An province that has spread north to Hanoi: crispy fried freshwater eel with vermicelli, usually served in broth. Miến Lươn Đông Thịnh at 87 Hàng Điếu Street is run by Quách Kim Dung and has operated for more than 40 years; in the 2024 Michelin edition it was described as the only eel specialist in Hanoi.
The eels are sourced from Nghệ An and Bắc Ninh. The eel is served in soup or dry form, tossed with vermicelli, herbs, toasted peanuts and shallots, and the menu also includes soft eel, eel congee and seasonal eel eggs from February to July. The inspectors praise the soup, and the congee includes shredded pork sausage and shiitake.
It holds a Bib Gourmand and is open from early morning to late evening.
