Hansik Goo
Mingoo Kang's modern Korean tasting menus in Central, one Michelin star.
Korean tasting menus from the Mingles chef
Hansik Goo has been open since 2020 on the first floor of The Wellington at 198 Wellington Street, and it holds one Michelin star. It is led by Mingoo Kang, who also runs Mingles in Seoul, and the restaurant calls itself fine-casual: seasonal tasting menus with a relaxed manner.
A 2023 summer menu gives a sense of the cooking: winter-melon congee, mul-hwe with Korean pear and apple granita, noodles in pine-nut sauce with black truffle, braised Jeju tilefish, and a risotto inspired by ginseng chicken soup with abalone. A Korean feast of Hanwoo rib-eye and pork belly is served ssam-style, and dessert might be a corn bingsu.
It shares its building with Vea. Dinner and weekend lunch are set menus. Menus change by season, so the dishes above are an example.
