Miyako Island (Okinawa prefecture), Miyakojima, Japan
55 low villas and houses by Studio Piet Boon, almost all with private pools, on a reef-fringed peninsula of Miyako.

- Opened March 2025
Why we recommend it
Rosewood chose neither Tokyo nor Kyoto for its Japanese debut but a subtropical island of coral reefs and sugar cane, and the resort is built to keep attention on that place. The buildings are low and follow the shore, and almost every villa has its own pool.
For a traveller who knows the cities and the ski resorts of Japan, it shows a different country, and it combines easily with a city stay, as OKYTO's opening report noted.
Location
The resort is on a peninsula in the north of Miyako Island, in the Ryukyu Islands of Okinawa prefecture, about 20 minutes by car from Miyako Airport. Check current flight routes to the island.
