Ananda in the Himalayas
Narendra Nagar, above Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, Rishikesh, India
Ayurvedic retreat on a palace estate above Rishikesh and the Ganges, with 75 rooms, suites and villas.
Why we recommend it
Ananda introduced much of the world to Ayurveda as a form of travel, and after 25 years its method rests on a consultation, then a programme of treatments, diet, yoga and meditation, with Vedanta taught in daily talks. That element, philosophy, is what distinguishes it from other retreats.
The setting is the other reason to come: a palace, a forest and the valley of the Ganges below, with Rishikesh, long a centre for the study of yoga, in view. Wellness retreats in Asia sets Ananda beside Six Senses Vana.
Location
The retreat stands at Narendra Nagar in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand, above the town of Rishikesh and the valley of the Ganges.
