Mandarin Oriental Plans Hot Spring Resort in Xi’an
The group's planned Xi'an property is an urban resort with 166 terraced rooms, seven pool villas and hot spring pavilions, scheduled to open in 2029.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced on 1 August 2025 that it will open Mandarin Oriental, Xi’an, an urban resort in the former capital of 13 Chinese dynasties. The property is scheduled to open in 2029.
The developer is Xi’an Wolong Real Estate, a partnership between Rongwei Group and Vanzhong Group. The resort will stand on a large landscaped site next to a newly developed park, with architecture and interiors by ACPV ARCHITECTS.
Accommodation will comprise 166 rooms and suites, each with an outdoor terrace and access to natural hot spring water, plus seven private villas with their own terraces and pools. The hot springs also shape the wellness offer: The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will include hot spring pavilions, alongside a 50-metre indoor-outdoor infinity pool.
Five restaurants and bars are planned, among them a Chinese speciality restaurant, as well as a 1,200-square-metre ballroom. An art and culture gallery, a library, a retail boutique and indoor and outdoor children’s facilities, including a children’s pool, complete the programme.
“We are thrilled to bring Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service and immersive wellness ethos to Xi’an,” said Laurent Kleitman, the group’s chief executive. For the developer, general manager Xudong Zi said the aim was “a destination that harmonises the city’s heritage, natural beauty and contemporary design”.
The announcement is available on the Mandarin Oriental media centre.
