A station dining room in a 1923 hotel

The Railway Restaurant is on the ground floor of Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas in Hua Hin, the hotel that opened in 1923 as The Railway Hotel. It was built for the Thai aristocracy and foreign visitors travelling south from Bangkok on the new line towards Malaya, a year after the royal connection with Hua Hin began under King Rama VI.

The restaurant takes its look from the Hua Hin railway station of the 1920s, with an elegant colonial-style room seating around a hundred inside and more outdoors.

World cuisines, all day

The hotel describes the cooking as world cuisines served in a historic atmosphere: international dishes alongside local Thai specialities. Its signatures include Railway fried rice, an Angus beef carpaccio, slow-cooked pork tenderloin and a duo of snow fish. Culture Trip has singled out the French-style buffet and the prime rib.
