Park Hyatt Siem Reap Opens in the Former Hotel de la Paix

After a 14-month renovation by Bill Bensley, the former Hotel de la Paix reopened as Hyatt's first hotel in Cambodia, with 108 rooms and a dome echoing Angkor Wat.

In August 2013 the former Hotel de la Paix in Siem Reap reopened as Park Hyatt Siem Reap, after a 14-month renovation. It was Hyatt’s first hotel in Cambodia and its 14th in South-East Asia. The designer was Bill Bensley, the Bangkok-based landscape architect and interior designer.

His concept draws on the Angkorian ruins and Cambodian culture. The exterior is white, with a domed ceiling that echoes the interior towers of Angkor Wat. Inside, there are Khmer-inspired works of contemporary art, wood floors and Italian marble, to give a residential feel. The hotel has 108 rooms, 13 of them suites, four with private plunge pools.

The main restaurant serves traditional Khmer and French provincial cooking and opens onto a banyan tree. There is also a retro-style living-room lounge and the Glasshouse Deli Patisserie. The spa covers 2,615 square feet around a lap pool in the gardens, and a gallery doubles as meeting space.
