Shangri-La Group opened Shangri-La Kunming in the capital of Yunnan province, according to a release dated 22 April 2026. The hotel has 75 rooms and suites, all with access to the Horizon Club Lounge.

The interiors are by AvroKO, working to a concept the group calls the “Tea Merchant’s Mansion”, which threads Yunnan’s tea culture through the building. Guests arrive through a “Secret Garden” welcome area, and stained-glass windows along the corridors are meant to frame a view at every step.

Room types run from the 55-square-metre Horizon Executive Room to 72-square-metre Horizon Premier and Horizon 270° City View suites, the 120-square-metre Rose Blossom Romantic Suite and the 192-square-metre Shangri-La Tea Sanctuary Residence Suite. For families there are a Wildwood Camper themed suite and Questers Family Rooms.

The Horizon Club Lounge on the 18th floor, warmed by a red copper fireplace, hosts tea gatherings led by professional tea masters as well as local specialities. Dian Voyage serves modern Yunnan cuisine under chefs Liu Xin and Yang Bolin, both recognised by the Michelin Guide and Black Pearl, and SUMA Bar, a collaboration with SG Group, builds its drinks around local ingredients.

Facilities include an indoor heated pool with a tropical rainforest theme, a 24-hour fitness centre with a yoga room and more than 2,000 square metres of event space, among them a 1,000-square-metre pillarless ballroom. The group’s announcement is available on Hotel Online.
