Walk the flower village of Sa Dec
The flower capital of the Mekong Delta, with 1,500 kinds of plants and old bonsai.
Sa Dec, in Dong Thap Province, lies between the Tien and Hau rivers, and is known as the flower capital of the Mekong Delta. Its flower village, about 3 kilometres from the town centre, has a tradition of more than a hundred years, shaped by the Kinh, Hoa and Khmer communities. Some 500 households grow more than 1,500 kinds of ornamental plants, flowers and bonsai, a few of them hundreds of years old. The village supplies flowers and ornamental plants to neighbouring areas, and its lotuses are especially colourful at Tet.
