Hua Ge Si Chu
A small Hakka-leaning kitchen in Liwan built around poached Qingyuan chicken; Bib Gourmand.
The Restaurant
Hua Ge Si Chu is a much smaller restaurant than the owner’s earlier, now-closed place, which was well known. The owner kept some of that menu’s most popular dishes. The Michelin Guide lists the cuisine as Cantonese, though its inspectors describe Hakka cooking and call it a pure delight.
The signature is poached chicken made with birds from Qingyuan, with robust flavour and juicy meat, served with scallion and sand-ginger dips. House-made pickles and white-radish pork balls are also named.
Good to Know
The restaurant holds a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 guide. It takes cash only and bookings are by phone. See Guangzhou for the wider picture.
