The hotel was designed by Bill Bensley, whose Capella Ubud in Bali preceded it, around the theme of the opera houses of the 1920s. More than 1,000 pieces of memorabilia and artwork, including works by Kate Spencer depicting opera society, run through the public spaces and rooms.
There are 47 rooms and suites, ranging from 35 to 194 square metres. They include four Opera Suites with private terraces. The Living Room acts as the social hub and hosts the brand’s Capella Moments programme, such as sessions with local bamboo weavers and traditional paper-makers.
Backstage is the signature restaurant, serving Northern Vietnamese cuisine. Diva’s Lounge and Diva’s Bar handle cocktails and lighter dishes in an art-deco setting. At opening, the hotel also presented what it described as Vietnam’s only gin distillery on site.
Below ground, the Auriga Spa includes couples’ treatment suites, saunas and steam baths, alongside a fitness centre and La Grotta, an indoor pool. General manager Christoph Strahm described Vietnam as “one of the world’s most dynamic destinations” and said the team would let guests “feel the pulse of Hanoi“.
The launch came with a “Dream Now, Travel Later” package offering 30 per cent off, from USD 315++ per night. Further details are on the Capella Hanoi website.
