Chaat
Manav Tuli's Indian street-food-inspired cooking at Rosewood Hong Kong, a one-star restaurant.
Indian street food with fine-dining discipline
Chaat is on the fifth level of Rosewood Hong Kong and was billed as the first Indian restaurant in Kowloon. Its name means ‘to lick’ in Hindi, and the cooking, by chef de cuisine Manav Tuli, takes the snacks of his childhood in central India and gives them a more precise treatment.
The influences range across central India, the Bombay coast, Punjab and Kerala. Homemade paneer and pav bhaji are highlights, and the menu is organised around small plates, slow-cooked dishes and tandoori specialities, with a strong emphasis on vegetables and grains. Three tandoor ovens anchor the kitchen, and the drinks draw on the historical spice routes.
Chaat earned a Michelin star in the guide for 2022 and has kept it in the 2026 edition. It is a restaurant that works for a group wanting to share many dishes. Menus change, so check the current offering.
