Fairmont Beijing Closes for a Complete Renovation
The Beijing hotel closes for a complete renovation.
Fairmont Beijing has closed its doors for a complete renovation, beginning a major transformation of the luxury hotel in China’s capital.
The hotel closed on September 1, 2026. Fairmont has said that the full scope of the project and the reopening date will be announced separately, making this a renovation story whose details are deliberately still limited.
A full reset rather than a light refresh
What is confirmed is the scale: Fairmont describes the work as a complete renovation. That places the Beijing project among a growing number of major Asian luxury hotels choosing substantial reinvestment as competition intensifies from newer properties.
The closure is also significant because renovations of this depth remove inventory from the market for an extended period rather than upgrading rooms gradually while remaining open. For travellers, Fairmont Beijing should therefore be treated as unavailable until the brand announces a reopening timetable.
OKYTO will keep the historical record of the September closure intact and cover the design, accommodation and restaurant changes separately when Fairmont releases confirmed details.
