Paul Jones Returns to Mandarin Oriental Bangkok as General Manager

Paul Jones returns to the Bangkok landmark nearly two decades after serving as Hotel Manager.

Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok has appointed Paul Jones as General Manager, bringing him back to the Chao Phraya landmark nearly two decades after he served as the hotel’s Hotel Manager.

The appointment was announced on September 14, 2026, during the property’s 150th anniversary year. Jones previously worked at the Bangkok hotel from 2005 to 2008 and has since held senior leadership roles across Mandarin Oriental’s international portfolio.

A return during a milestone year

His previous General Manager appointments include Mandarin Oriental hotels in Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo and Geneva. That combination of group experience and prior knowledge of the Bangkok property gives the appointment unusual continuity at a moment when the hotel is completing a significant period of renewal.

Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok has been updating accommodation, dining and wellness spaces around its anniversary, while preserving the historic character that has made the riverside property one of Asia’s best-known grand hotels.

Leadership changes at hotels of this scale can influence far more than operations: they often shape restaurant strategy, service culture, renovation priorities and the balance between international guests and the local market.
