NoMad Singapore to Open on 1 December in a WOHA Building on Orchard Road
The New York hotel brand's first property in Asia will have 173 rooms in a 14-storey building with a cascading vertical garden, on the former Faber House site.
NoMad Singapore will open on 1 December 2026, and has begun taking reservations. It is the first hotel in Asia for NoMad, the brand that began in 2012 in a Beaux-Arts building north of Madison Square Park in New York and is now part of Hilton. The hotel has 173 rooms and stands on Orchard Road, at the corner of Cairnhill Road, on the site of the former Faber House.
The building
The 14-storey building was developed by UOL Group, one of Singapore’s main property companies, and designed by WOHA, the Singapore architects known for covering towers in planting, as at the Parkroyal Collection Pickering and Oasia Hotel Downtown. Here a vertical garden cascades down the facade facing Orchard Road. Reception is on the fifth floor, above the shops and restaurants at street level.
The interiors are by Kevin Klein Design of Los Angeles. NoMad’s original look, set by Jacques Garcia in New York, was that of a Parisian apartment with dark velvet and clawfoot baths. Later hotels in London and elsewhere moved towards a residential style specific to each city, and Singapore follows that line. Rooms start at 32 square metres, with suites of 42 and 43 square metres.
The hotel will display more than 1,860 artworks, about 90 per cent of them by artists based in Singapore, in a programme that includes a partnership with ART:DIS, a charity supporting artists with disabilities.
Restaurants and bars
NoMad made its name through its restaurants and bars as much as its rooms, and the Singapore hotel has four. NoMad Grill, the main restaurant, serves meat cooked over wood and a raw bar. The Tropicana Club is the cocktail bar. Lù is a terrace bar above Orchard Road, and Sticky Fingers, at street level, sells sundaes. In a city with one of the strongest bar scenes in Asia, the cocktail programme will be watched closely.
Context
Opening rates start at S$516 a night. That places the hotel below the city’s top tier, represented by Raffles Singapore and the new Raffles Sentosa, and in competition with the lifestyle hotels that have opened along and around Orchard Road in recent years.
Orchard Road itself is in the middle of a long effort to become more than a shopping street, with more greenery, dining and reasons to stay after dark. A hotel built around its bars, in a building covered in plants, fits that plan.
