Why we recommend it
The setting is the main asset: the long wall of Cangshan behind, Erhai Lake below, and rooms of 60 square metres or more turned towards one or the other. The design draws on regional materials, with aged timber, bluestone and lake pebbles.
Guided foraging, mountain runs and sound baths tie the stay to the landscape of Yunnan. Dali sits between Kunming and Lijiang on a journey through the province, and travellers continuing north can compare the lodge-to-lodge approach described in our Songtsam circuit.
Location
On the slopes of Cangshan Mountain above Erhai Lake, at 2,090 metres, about 23 kilometres from Dali Railway Station and 39 kilometres from Dali Fengyi Airport.
