Why we recommend it
It is one of the highest hotels anywhere, and the view from every room is the first reason to stay. The second is restraint: the interiors use Malay references, brass, timber and weaving, in a quiet palette that leaves the windows to do the work.
The location also has meaning. The tower stands at the edge of the old city centre, beside the stadium where independence was declared, in a district under restoration with a park and a textile museum. Kuala Lumpur is becoming a city to visit for its hotels and its tables, with a Michelin guide and the Waldorf Astoria to follow.
