Announced on 14 December 2020, the 210-room hotel is the second property under The Hari name, following The Hari London, which opened in 2009.
The hotel belongs to the Harilela family, whose history in Hong Kong spans five generations. Chairman and chief executive Dr Aron Harilela described the site as “a pocket right in the heart of the most bustling parts of town”. Rory Slater, a hotelier with more than two decades in luxury hospitality, was appointed general manager.
Interiors are by Tara Bernerd & Partners, with architecture by Atkins. The London-based studio used petrol-blue lacquer panelling, amber leathers, grey marble, fluted surfaces, timber and jewel-toned fabrics, with antique-brass Crittall-style doors. Space planning was organised to make the most of city views, according to the studio.
Room categories run from King and Twin Rooms to Corner and Premium Corner Rooms, topped by three rooftop suites. Food and drink is split between Lucciola Restaurant & Bar, serving Italian cuisine, and Zoku Restaurant & Terrace, which is Japanese, plus a terrace bar. Meeting rooms, a fitness centre and rotating art displays complete the public spaces.
Tara Bernerd & Partners describes the result as a hub for locals and visitors alike, with art-filled public spaces at street level. The hotel’s website has details of its rooms and restaurants.
