It is the brand’s first resort in Cambodia and took close to a decade to build. Guests reach it via Sihanouk International Airport, ten minutes away, followed by a 15-minute speedboat crossing.
The resort has 40 villas, each with its own infinity-edge plunge pool, spread through 12 hectares of tropical forest. Categories range from villas for two to the Beach Retreat, which sleeps five, and a duplex Oceanfront villa for six. Green living roofs and materials drawn from Khmer stilt houses and Cambodia’s floating villages shape the architecture.
Dining is split between Tree, which serves modern Khmer cuisine, and the ocean-facing AHA, with international dishes. A Sunset Bar, a deli and an ice cream parlour complete the offer, alongside in-villa dining built on farm-to-table produce, part of it grown in the island’s own organic garden.
Six Senses Spa takes its cue from the sacred Kbal Spean river near Angkor, combining Cambodian traditions with Ayurvedic and Chinese practices; its signature treatment is the Khmer Kru Thnam herbal ball massage. Facilities include a gym, a rooftop yoga pavilion, an aerial yoga studio, a meditation cave and an alchemy bar. For children, The Nest club follows the brand’s Grow With Six Senses approach.
The island is home to around 20 bird species, including Oriental Pied Hornbills, and 35 of Cambodia’s 46 butterfly species, with reef protection work carried out around its shores. The opening came weeks after InterContinental Hotels Group acquired Six Senses in February 2019.
