Mandarin Oriental Plans Lakeside Hotel in Suzhou
Developed with Hongkong Land and designed by ZNA, the 146-key project on Jinji Lake's east bank will add a children's club, spa and three restaurants to Suzhou's new business district.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced on 13 February 2025 that it will manage a new luxury hotel in Suzhou, with opening planned for 2026. The property will stand on the east bank of Jinji Lake, in the Central Business District of Suzhou Industrial Park.
The project is being developed by Suzhou Harmony Development Group, a subsidiary of Sungent Holdings Group, in partnership with Hongkong Land. The architecture is by ZNA.
Mandarin Oriental, Suzhou is planned with 146 rooms and suites, many with balconies and views. Food and drink will be spread across three restaurants, a lounge, a bar and a cake shop, with al fresco lakeside dining in landscaped gardens.
Facilities are to include a spa and wellness centre, a fitness centre, an indoor swimming pool, meeting and event spaces and a children’s club offering education, sports and entertainment. The hotel will have direct access to an adjoining commercial and retail centre and to nearby cultural sites.
“We are delighted to be extending the Group’s presence in mainland China and to be part of this exciting development in the heart of the city’s new Central Business District,” said Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental. Michael Smith, Chief Executive of Hongkong Land, said the partners were confident that Mandarin Oriental’s reputation would help “create a truly unique and dynamic destination in the heart of Suzhou Industrial Park.”
Suzhou adds to the group’s presence in the region, which already includes Beijing, where Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing opened in 2019. The announcement is available in full on the Mandarin Oriental Media Centre.
