All 111 rooms and suites of the Central hotel are to be refreshed. The Oriental Spa will gain new facilities, and two new dining and bar concepts are planned, including an alfresco terrace in the heart of Central.
The hotel’s restaurants on the seventh floor will continue to operate during the works. Between them they hold seven Michelin stars: three for Sushi Shikon, two for Amber, which also holds a Michelin Green Star, two for SOMM, and one for Kappo Rin.
Greg Liddell, Area Vice President, Operations for Mandarin Oriental, set the ambition plainly: “The return of Joyce’s signature touch to this hotel will again set a global benchmark.” The project coincides with the hotel’s 20th anniversary in 2025, and the reopening is expected in 2026.
Opened in 2005, the hotel is the younger of Mandarin Oriental’s two addresses in Central, Hong Kong, alongside the group’s 1963 flagship, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.
