Terrace Restaurant at Benesse House
Benesse House's 90-seat French dining room on Naoshima, with Inland Sea views and Pistoletto works.
French cooking among the art
The Terrace Restaurant is the main dining room of Benesse House on Naoshima, one of the Seto Inland Sea art islands, next to the park and under a high ceiling, with large windows over the Inland Sea. It seats 90, and two works from Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Affresco series, from 1998, hang in the room.
The cooking is French, built on Setouchi produce, and the seasonal Menu du Chef adds ingredients from across Japan; Uchi Japan names scallop ravioli with seaweed beurre blanc among the dishes. Breakfast and lunch are served alongside dinner, which is reserved for Benesse House guests and must be booked ahead. The restaurant opens on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and closes for maintenance from 4 January to 4 March 2027.
