IHG Hotels & Resorts announced on 20 April 2022 the opening of Regent Phu Quoc, the first Regent resort in Southeast Asia and the brand’s debut in Vietnam. The all-suite and villa resort sits on the island of Phu Quoc, off the country’s southwest coast, next to a UNESCO-designated World Biosphere Reserve.

The resort has 302 suites and villas. Interiors are by BLINK Design Group, which combined traditional Vietnamese vernacular forms with contemporary rooms, broad windows and verandas. In the lobby hangs “Charming Deeps”, a bespoke chandelier in hand-blown Bohemian crystal by Lasvit.

Six restaurants and bars form what the resort calls the Taste Gallery. Rice Market serves Vietnamese and Chinese cooking, Ocean Club is the beach venue with a Mediterranean menu, and Fu Bar sits on the sky pool terrace. Oku, with an omakase counter, and the Bar Jade speakeasy were scheduled to follow after the opening.

The Spa offers acoustic, vibrational and hot sand therapies. The Regent Club has its own private rooftop infinity pool, and the resort operates its own catamaran, Serenity. Opening rates started from USD 361 per night.

General manager Juan Losada said the resort aimed to “set the benchmark for resort luxury in Vietnam”. The IHG announcement has further details.
