Neighborhood
David Lai's seafood-led European restaurant down a Hollywood Road alley, one star.
Hidden down an alley, direct on the plate
Neighborhood is run by owner-chef David Lai, born in Hong Kong and trained in the United States. It sits at the lower ground of 61–63 Hollywood Road, with an entrance down Man Hing Lane off Peel Street, and Michelin calls it a casual and bustling spot tucked away in an alley. It holds one star in the 2026 guide.
The cooking is seafood-heavy and tapas-like: about 20 small items rotate on the menu, with large sharing platters such as salt-baked chicken rice with giblets and morels and a Hokkaido kinki paella, which need to be pre-ordered. Tatler describes it as excellent ingredients treated with confidence and served without fuss, and the menu follows the day’s produce.
The restaurant is open for dinner Monday to Saturday and offers counter dining, so it suits small parties. Menus change nightly, so the dishes above are examples.
